Soundbombs – record something and then startle people

The Soundbomb Project. Apply to buy one of these motion sensitive, recording and playback toys and you can set it up to startle passers-by with your own choice of loud noise. Oh yes, they call it art. Oh and only those who ‘deserve’ one, will be able to buy one, so get over it, Mr Gates.  Soundbombs are New-Media-Accessories. Each one a lowtech object for interactive transmission. An integrated soundmodul makes it possible to record any given sound and then…

Google Map Icons for real – mark those important little places

I just love the idea of sticking huge Google Map icons into the real world, as this German artist has done. Maybe they could reference something from online and really confuse people? Video.  While zooming in the map the pixel size of the markers on the screen always stay at the same size. But if their size is seen in relation to their environment they shrink while the user does zoom in the map. Tags: google+map+icons

Luminous Fabric – light up your life

So, d’ya wanna add a bit of spice to your otherwise boring wardrobe? Need something to give extra sparkle to your vehicle upholstery? Then maybe you need some Luminous Fabric, citizen. We featured this material waaaay back in 2002, but now they’ve got some fancy new colours, and it’s hand washable in soapy water. Hmm…where’s that knitted shawl pattern I was keeping for a rainy day…?  This technology allows to wave plastic optical fibers alongside synthetic fibers, forming a luminous fabric….

Foldschool – cardboard furniture

FoldSchool offers a range of free downloadable patterns for children’s furniture which you can print out and make at home. A kind of furniture Origami. Although we do suggest you make the items out of cardboard and not paper. Just thought we’d mention that.   Mass culture is run by superficiality and ecological absurdity. Foldschool supports craftsmanship as a face-to-face approach to design and brings together product and user the closest possible. The mindset of foldschool is to restore design to…

For Sale: Pink Panther Mobile – the ultimate pink ride

Dude, they’re auctioning the Original Pink Panther Car on eBay. No really. The one that was driven into the studio at the start of the cartoon show every week. Zooppa – advertising for dummies

Zooppa is some crazy stuff. Think Hot or Not meets YouTube meets Jackass for advertising. The site posts a contest for an advert, ordinary Joes shoot their version on video and upload. Users vote for the best. And the winners get cash, or at least Zooppa cash which can be converted into real green stuff. There’s something odly compelling about this, and if it takes off – and the early stuff is pretty awful in general it has to be…
