Sony Xperia Z 4G Tablet – hands on with Sony’s superb new iPad killer [Video Review]

If product coolness was measured in ice cream, the new Sony Xperia Z 4G Tablet would be a triple choc whipped Sundae, with maraschino cherries, white truffle chunks and lashings of dark Belgian chocolate sprinkles on a bed of silver sugar flecks. Yes it’s that delicious.

Workrave – this little free program could just save your life [Freeware]

You don’t have to look far to find any number of research studies which point out the dangers of sitting down all day as we do our jobs in front of computer screens. And that’s not counting the rising number of people who suffer from RSI (repetitive strain injury) from doing the same kind of computing and mousing tasks day in, day out.

SMS Alarm – keep losing your phone while it’s on silent mode? Fear not. Install this and relax. [Freeware]

Hands up if you have had a ‘lost phone’ moment sometime in the last three months. Yeah it’s easily done isn’t it, and it’s always at the most awkward moment, just when you’re leaving to catch that flight or pick up the elderly parent or something equally urgent.

Earth Alerts – live map of our planet’s natural hazards makes for compulsive viewing (+Freeware]

You don’t have to live in an earthquake zone to appreciate the benefits of knowing if and when things are going to get a little hot and sticky at any time. And by things, we mean natural disasters. Just ask the European continent when the Icelandic – can’t pronounce or spell the name – volcano flipped out a few years back.

Versus Touchtab 10.1 Inch Tablet – you paid HOW much for your Galaxy Tab? [Review]

Progress is a wonderful thing. Take computing for example. Just a scant few years ago we were all lugging around very heavy, cumbersome lunchbox computers which couldn’t compute their way out of a paper bag, and now look at us. Sneak a peek at your fellow coffee shop patrons next time you’re in for a check up, and chances are a good third of them will be doing some sort of tablet computer dance over their Latte with Sprinkles.

The new Flickr is gorgeous, is Yahoo! back on track at last?

Well there were two choices. Either Yahoo! had to ditch/sell Flickr, or the company needed to drastically remodel the ageing service to keep up with the times. Thankfully for those of us who are fans, the site has not been sold but instead has received a gorgeous update and more.

Buycott – finally there’s a guilt free way to shop [Freeware]

There are so many different degrees of ownership in the major corporates, that it’s almost impossible to trace who owns what when it comes to consumer products on the shelves.

How to Double Your PC Productivity With Just 65 MB of Free Software [Freeware]

Like many readers of the Red Ferret, I spend much of my working day in front of a computer, and like others I have an inbox flooded with emails arriving every minute, in addition to client and business partner phone calls…and in between all of this I need to get work done. There are a number of good task management and work organization systems out-there (David Allen’s GTD, 43Folder’s Inbox Zero, etc …) but they all need to be supported…
