Infrared Tracker R/C Car – point and drive toy promises to drive the cat batty

This Infrared Tracker R/C Car gives the phrase remote control a whole new meaning. Instead of waggling a wheel and throttle arrangement on the controller, you simply point the beam of light onto the floor and the car follows it like an obedient and ever so plasticy pet. Apparently the dot can be up to 5 feet ahead of the car and it will still be able to track it, but do try to remember that walls can be harmful to…

Go Racers – the ultimate commuter vehicle?

Go Racers. Apparently New Zealand is going potty over these fun vehicles and we can see why. No really. Electric powered, elegant and priced at a nowhere near ridiculous $6,995.00 a pair. OK, so they’re supposed to be raced not commuted, but we can dream can’t we?  At the heart of the GO-Racer GT is a custom-made rear transaxle, which incorporates an ingenious limited slip differential and gearbox. This unit is maintenance free, compact and fully sealed, with no drive…

SatNag – silly, funny, dangerous GPS toy

The SatNag is a fake GPS satellite navigation toy that is far too dangerous to be allowed to live. Press the button and instead of guiding you to your destination the thing will deliver a number of penetratingly funny comments from a plumb voiced English female back-seat driver which are a little too close to the truth. You can hear a selection on the sales site (scroll down), but here’s a taster… “I know you’re a man, but it’s been 35 minutes now,…

Frets on Fire – open source Guitar Hero for your computer

The Open Source Frets on Fire game gives you that Guitar Hero feeling on your computer without all the nasty paying money stuff first. Download the version for your platform – Mac, Linux, Windows supported – grab your keyboard like this… …and rock. OK, so you won’t look quite as cool as an air axe ninja, but apparently you can also hook it up to a Guitar Hero controller and your TV via a Media Center. Such ingenuity, eh? Of course…

FireNes – Firefox extension lets you play Nintendo games via your browser

FireNes is a Firefox extension that lets you play all those ancient Nintendo games via your browser without having to install any emulators or ROMs. Clever, no? It’s actually loading a Java emulator in the background via the browser, and you won’t be able to save games as yet, but if you’re a Mario fanatic this one’s probably for you.  FireNes is an extension for Firefox that allows us to play around 2500 Nintendo games, without the need to download…

USB Typing Xmas Tree – at least your fingers will know when it’s the right season

This USB Typing Xmas Tree is interesting not just because it was sent into us in JUNE, fer Pete’s sake, but also because the lights glow only when you start typing. The faster you type the more lights you get. Stop typing and you’ll sit there in the dark. Or something. OK, now get back to your swimwear and sun block.  4 color LED light up control by keyboard type type faster and more light up, stop type and slowly go…

Terminal Panic – have fun helping BA sort out the mess at Terminal 5 with this Flash game

Terminal Panic is a very basic Flash game which makes fun of the complete foul-up at Heathrow Airport’s new Terminal 5 launch recently. Good, it’s about time that we the cattle fodder travelling public got our own back on the muppets who make us suffer to fly. Tags: terminal+panic, flash+game, heathrow+t5

Weewar & Starcraft – a couple of fun online games for your enjoyment today

Weewar. Cute little turn based strategy game. You get nice little pixel armies to move around, and lots of tools to help you keep up with the gameplay over days of play. I’m not much of a turn based player myself, prefer the RTS style of something like StarCraft FA3 or StarCraft FA5. But hey, it’s Friday. Live and let live, eh?
