Gumiyo – cell phone marketplace

Gumiyo is a ‘mobile commerce platform’ which links buyers and sellers via their mobile phones and the web. You take a pic of whatever you’re selling, email it to Gumiyo from your cell phone and the service will create an ad for you, post it to the site (complete with maps etc) and list it with Google Base, Froogle etc. The site has a lovely design, is currently free but has very little content which probably reflects the fact that it launched…

3Jam – reply to all text messaging arrives

3Jam. Group text messaging. Send one message to the service and they send it on to all your friends. Works on any phone but you do need friends. Preferably more than one of. Er…business model?  3jam does not charge you anything to use the service. However, your carrier’s standard or other text messaging charges may apply, depending on your wireless plan. Each message you send or receive through 3jam is counted as one standard text message even though your message…

VoiceLink Skype GSM Gateway – talk free and far

The IPDrum VoiceLink Skype GSM Gateway. According to the blurb this puppy delivers Internet telephony –Skype, MSN and even GoogleTalk – to any mobile phone without adding software or using WiFi or stuff. You stick a SIM card into the base unit, so we can’t see how it can be that cheap for international IM calls, but then we’re stupid people here, really we are. £116.33.  The IPdrum VoiceLink is a USB device. Using a second SIM card, it creates a gateway…

Yell.com Mobile – where’s the nearest…?

One of the suckiest things about search on mobile phones is the fact that it doesn’t work. No it doesn’t. But it’s getting there, primarily because the big players have realised that there’s a huge latent demand for information on the go. Nice to see, therefore, a new update from a brand leader. Yell.com Mobile, part of the Yellow Pages empire, has just re-launched and it’s a nice effort all round in terms of the interface, data and ease of use….

MyBlu.  Hook up the MyBlu remote control to your iPod, leave your phone in your pocket, and when a call comes in answer it via the mic on the remote by just tapping a button. And get an FM radio thrown in for free. Bargain eh? $88.00.  Make and receive calls on your iPod # Plug ‘n’ Play with most Bluetooth enabled mobile phones # Caller Number ID displayed on iPod screen # Automatically pause and resume music for incoming calls…

Nokia N95 up close – iPhone? Pah!

Went to the launch of the Nokia N800 last week, and have to say I really like it. It’s a subtle but definite advance over the N770 which it replaces, but I still despair over the lack of an HSDPA connection. WiFi is just too restrictive in terms of hotspot availability. Two things stand out though. First, the power management seems to be much better, you actually do get a really decent standby time out of it. Second, the beefier…

Mobyko – store your mobile data for free

Mobyko is another of those online SIM card storage services which pop up now and then. They all seem very interesting, although I am wary of trusting my very personal data to any service like this until it has been around for a long while and is therefore likely to be around for a good while longer. See also TxtVault and TreasuremyText .  Mobyko is the simple and easy way to save all your names and numbers to one safe place. So now…

U-Do – avatars for ringtones

U-Do. Create your own ringtones with avatars attached. Why? Er…well perhaps people like looking at avatars on their handsets. Did you ever think of that?  Creating U-DOO characters is absolutely free, and it is also free to email them to your friends and publish them to your MySpace page. If you want to download U-DOO ringtones to your phone, we require you to subscribe to a service that has been approved by all of the major wireless carriers (Cingular, Sprint,…

ARC Freedom Wireless Antenna – boost your cell indoors

The ARC Freedom Wireless Cell Phone Antenna is designed to boost the signal of your cell phone indoors when all those nasty walls and doors threaten to cut you off from your lifeline to the world. Best of all, you can carry it around with you, so there’s no excuse for a bad signal when you’re staying in that flea-pit basement of a hotel on business. Wonder which marketing guy thought that making it look like a tombstone would sell more units, though? $39.99.  Do…

Casio GzOne Mobile Phone – tough like Arnie!

The Casio GzOne Mobile Phone is just about the toughest handset on the street. Apparently. It will survive immersion in water for up to 30 minutes (1 meter) and can be dropped repeatedly from 1.5 meters onto a steel plate over concrete. Did we mention tough? And it comes with a camera and all the other goodies you might expect, and some you might not, like onboard GPS.

The NEO 808i is a cute little mobile phone handset we thinks. It is expected to be available next March 2007 and the company anticipates rolling out another 3G mobile phone that will support WiFi connectivity.
