Gold Lock secured.

The Gold Lock Security Phone. Rather clever mobile phone software which encrypts your voice calls on the fly to provide secure calls. Push and talk technology using 1024 bit encryption. Apparently licensed by the Israeli ministry of defence, now there’s a surprise. And so secret it doesn’t even have a price. Shhhh…..  To execute a confidential call with absolute security, just press the joystick in the center of the keypad and release when finished talking (“push and talk” method)…How is the cryptography used?…

Two top mobile apps.

The great thing about the new wave of cool mobile applications is how they are turning cell phone handsets into genuinely useful tools. Two great examples are EQO and Hotxt. EQO lets you extend Skype onto your mobile phone, complete with buddy lists, incoming and outgoing IM chat etc – all done via their clever servers. It’s global, free at the moment for basic services and it works brilliantly. I made a an international Skype call today to a friend’s computer in Spain from my London cell…

SMS 007.

SMS 007. Jiri from Czech software house CircleTech sends us word of his new SMS encryption software which will protect your private, sensitive prose from prying eyes. Not only that but it will shield your contact list too, so people don’t even know who you’ve been…cough…Paris Hilton…cough…chatting to. Think around $39.00 and you’ll be close.   The right for privacy is one of the basic rights of modern civilisation. As the technology advances, its corruption and intrusion becomes easier. You…

Frontline SMS.

Frontline SMS. Laptop based SMS system for developing countries. Testing at the moment. Neat idea?  FrontlineSMS is a turnkey ‘works out of the box’ solution – the full system runs off a laptop or personal computer, a mobile phone or GSM modem, and a data cable . All the NGO need do is insert a local SIM card to enable the system to run on the local GSM network. FrontlineSMS will work in any country on any GSM network and…

IRIS mobile video services.

The IRIS people are promising us a brave new world of video enabled mobile applications any time now. Driven by the demand for security applications (using products like their motion sensing, pan and tilt camera, above) and entertainment, they are out to deliver their video technology to as many carriers as they can. But so, we suspect, are quite a few other players. Let the games begin!  Iris cameras can also detect when an intruder has entered your home through…
