Rhythm Pens – the scribble and scratch combo

Rhythm Pens have got to be one of the weirdest desktop toy products we’ve seen for a while. A ballpoint pen set which doubles up as a slimline drum synth complete with drum, crash and snare sounds. Plus an internal speaker. Huh…? $24.95.  Your Rhythm Pens – one red, one blue – mean that you can go from penning your monthly report or scribbling out a phone message to recreating the drum solo from your favourite rock song! You just flip ’em up…

Easy Glider – the Euro Segway electric chariot

We first mentioned the Easy Glider back in 2004, but now it looks as though they’ve refined the concept, added a few more models to the range, and are serious about taking on the market for personal electric transportation. It’s Swiss made, which means it should start on time (arf!) and offers two big advantages over the Segway – price and portability. The new ECO Glider model will retail for around $560 and they all fold up into a nice compact…

USB Portable Paper Shredder – for when scissors just won’t cut it

The USB Portable Paper Shredder. Nothing says ‘slave to the machine’ more than using a klunky USB powered paper shredder to mince those incriminating Starbucks receipts, eh? It can handle 5 sheets at a time, somewhat less than a pair of rusty scissors. But what do we know…? $22.50.  It shreds your confidential documents, notes, business cards easily on the go. Providing lots conveniences for you and it is also a space-saving tool for users to use it in everywhere. Tags: portable+paper+shredder

The Webble Foot Rest – under-desk fitness plaything

The Webble foot rest. Is this a joke? We’re honestly not sure. Kind of a cross between an upturned waste basket and a skateboard. Watch the video to get an idea of usage. Apparently designed to keep you fit and active while deskbound. Um….  The Webble will be available in two versions: Webble and Webble AIR. The Webble offers a grippy hardshell surface while the Webble AIR extends the concept further with a flexible mesh membrane that offers the ultimate in…

Aiptek Pocket 5MP DV Camera – nightshot, anti shake goes budget

The Aiptek Pocket 5MP DV Camera is billed as the ‘smallest multifunctional DV supporting video stabiliser and nightshot’. In itself this would not be hugely innovative were it not for the fact that we’re talking a £74.99 price point here. Now of course, *saying* you support these features and getting a decent non blurry image out of a cheap box are two different things, aren’t they? But even so…  The smallest multi-functional DV supporting video stabiliser and nighshot • MPEG-4…

Watchphone frenzy – talk to the wrist, ‘cos the phone ain’t listenin’

The WatchPhone M300. Isn’t that typical, you wait around for years and all of a sudden up pops two watch phones at the same time. Tsk. I’ve got to say, in terms of sheer cool usefulness, these have got to have the edge on an iPhone. Especially once they bring on some decent sized memory for the MP3 player (or a microSD slot). $305.00.  Phonebook SMS (receive only) 1″OLED, 65K Screen GSM 850, 900, 1800 and 1900 Bluetooth: A2DP, AVRCP Music: MP3,…

iBall GPRS SMS Globe – cool text message viewer

The iBall GPRS SMS Globe. Send text messages from any mobile phone to this globe and it will display them on the 360 viewable screen. The unit contains a SIM card and 64 MB of memory for storing messages and uses 85 ‘super bright’ LED bulbs to do the display stuff. Sansa Shaker MP3 Player – shake, rattle and soul

The Sansa Shaker MP3 Player is an unremarkable beast, save for the fact that it comes with a ‘Shake Feature’ which lets you skip a track by shaking the unit. Now far be it for us to comment on the strategic decisions of multinational consumer tech companies, but do you really want product abuse to become a long term feature of your marketing message? What next, cars that you start by kicking them in the rear? $39.95.  The shake feature…
