Free gizmo calls.

‘EXTRA, EXTRA, Read all abaht it…’ – free phone calls to national and 60 international landlines (not just PC to PC) with the free Gizmo Project VoIP software. All you need is for both parties on the call to be registered and regular users of the Gizmo service. That’s it, no cash required. It’s either a suicide play or a desperate and genius reaction to the growing dominance of Skype services and peripheral products.   The Gizmo Project All Calls Free plan allows you to…

Huminity.

Huminity. Kind of an under the radar group blogging freeware application which has some rather interesting concepts in it. Like an inbuilt chat engine…yeah hold on, there’s more…with an embedded visualisation map of your social circle of friends. So now, not only can you chat with your mates, but also bounce off the map to their mates and have a chat, and then to their friends and so on. It’s kind of 6 degrees of Linked In meets Blogger meets AIM. Definitely worth…

Make typing easy. Peasy.

Phrase Express. Auto text entry freeware which lets you add phrases and words to your documents at the press of a key. Apparently it works with all applications, which is interesting. Hotkey support too.  PhraseExpress works like the AutoCorrect function in MS Office but for all applications on your computer. AutoText expands short keywords into full phrases. Example: typing ‘btw’ would be automatically expanded to ‘by the way’ while you type. Ever missed this feature in your web browser or…

Firefox backup.

MozbBackup. Backup your Firefox bookmarks, extensions, history etc. Free and pretty useful if you are a Firefox power user (although I had to say that it failed to backup my 38 + extensions, and just stalled). Nevertheless definitely worth a look.  MozBackup is a simple utility for creating backups of Mozilla Firefox, Mozilla Thunderbird, SeaMonkey, Mozilla Suite and Netscape profiles. It allows you to backup and restore bookmarks, mail, contacts, history, extensions, cache etc. It’s easy way to do Firefox…

Of Thumbstacks and men…

Thumbstacks. Hmm…another online application, this time a Powerpoint type presentation app. OK, so it’s basic slideshow stuff, but it’s slick and fast and easy peasy to use. You’ve got to see the writing on the wall for kludgy expensive offline applications, if something as elegant and simple like this can pop up the drop of a hat. So where are we now? Online spreadsheet, word-processor, database (did we mention DabbleDB already?) and now presentation? Hmm, seems like a wrap to…

Free Danish dialler.

SGOOPE. Yet another silly named VoIP service, but with a twist. They pay you. Oh yes, we’re back in 1999 and everything’s kooky. The idea is that you watch banner ads while you’re making your free SGOOPE to SGOOPE, or even SGOOPE to Skype or SIP calls. These ad views earn you credit which you can use to make PC to PC or PC to landline calls anywhere across the world. Maximum you can earn is 12 minutes per call and…
