Mogulus – run your own online television station, or stay a couch jockey

Mogulus is an online television/video service which not only provides the standard TV viewing experience, but also lets you create your own broadcast station if you fancy yourself as a bit of a media Moghul. Hmm…maybe that’s where the name came from? Anyhoo, the ‘Mogulus Studio’ part is where you can set up your own broadcast channel, complete with multiple camera mixing, live streaming, automated broadcasts and YouTube import. The result is a pretty cool television studio service all done…

You set up the event details in seconds (date, time, place), email the event to your friends and they RSVP as necessary. After 60 days the event data is totally wiped. Simple, no mess no fuss. Small Worlds – ignore life, play game

Small Worlds is an online role playing game. It’s kind of a cross between the Sims and Habbo, with bigger more realistic avatars and various locations to hang out in. It’s nice looking, and seems as if it could be addictive but at the end of the day to get the most out of it, you’re going to have to spend money, because shopping is the reason for living. Right? It’s free to join, and seems to be fairly well populated…

Omegle – grab a random chat with someone you don’t know

Omegle is a new and rather strange online chat service which automatically hooks you up with a random stranger when you log in. In one sense this is the ultimate Web 2.0 pop, sharing your time with the world, on the other hand it can be very disconcerting to log on and discover some stranger at the other end asking you where you’re from. Maybe it’s a personality thang? Anyhoo, it’s an interesting experiment, and just a tiny weeny bit creepy. Not…

TenderWarehouse – new job auction service makes it easy to find local contractors

TenderWarehouse is a brand new job auction which focuses on providing a marketplace for small contractors and it does it very well. The no frills service is a cinch to use, and offers lots of value for both sides of the equation, those looking for services and those offering.   People looking for work can add a ‘tender’ in a matter of a couple of minutes, by entering details, location and if they want, a target price. Registered contractors then are…

DimDim is a new open source web service which provides full featured web conferencing from within a Web browser. Bionic Books – small business accounting gets a slick Web 2.0 makeover

Bionic Books is designed to bring small business accounting into the modern age. It offers multi-national, secure online accounting functionality, all wrapped up in an easy to understand interface. The cool thing about the service is the fact that the devs have thrown in all the features you’d want as a small business, it’s not just an invoicing package, or only cash flow or whatever. It’s not easy to make fully featured applications easy to understand and use, but this…

Oovoo – free video conference calling for up to six people

Oovoo is a free video chat service which offers conferencing for up to six people. It’s the kind of thing that you probably don’t need, until you need it. We use Skype video for all our one on one calls, and it works great, but for multiple people it’s back to audio only. I haven’t had a chance to try this in anger yet – video performance with 6 people on a call will be interesting to see – but…
