Look, we’re all for progress, right? We love the advance of technology and the smell of burnt solder in the morning. But sometimes, just occasionally, someone in marketing gets a hangover and comes up with a product so bizarre that you start to wonder about the world in general.
Who doesn’t love a good puzzle, right? These brain teasers come in all forms varying from video games to Rubix Cubes, and we all have our preferred methods. There are those who have solved every problem in the book, and are looking for new challenges.
How weird is it that after all these years we can still be surprised? Pink giraffes on roller skates do it, as does a Romanian belly dancer singing Wagner. But apart from that kind of stuff we thought we were pretty fire proof.
There’s something we start to take for granted in our everyday surroundings. Those black rimmed wall clocks are one of them. We always check to see the time, but all we really need to see is the placement of the hour and minute hand. The ‘clockwise’ number rotation starting at twelve and ending at eleven just feels commonplace.

A new study from St George’s University’s Hotung Molecular Immunology Unit in London has shown that tobacco plants can be genetically modified to produce rabies antibodies. Scientists hope that this research will deliver a safe, inexpensive way of treating rabies in developing countries. These transgenic (read genetically modifed or GMO) plants were shown to neutralise the rabies virus. Definitely encouraging news … until you recognize that by “curing” one dreadful disease you’d be purposefully innoculating yourself with genetic material…
