Rollie Eggmaster – pop up toaster for eggs makes an absolute mockery of our breakfast conventions

Look, we’re all for progress, right? We love the advance of technology and the smell of burnt solder in the morning. But sometimes, just occasionally, someone in marketing gets a hangover and comes up with a product so bizarre that you start to wonder about the world in general.

iRuler – er…it’s a ruler. Online.

How weird is it that after all these years we can still be surprised? Pink giraffes on roller skates do it, as does a Romanian belly dancer singing Wagner. But apart from that kind of stuff we thought we were pretty fire proof.

Backwards Wall Clock will have your head spinning

There’s something we start to take for granted in our everyday surroundings. Those black rimmed wall clocks are one of them. We always check to see the time, but all we really need to see is the placement of the hour and minute hand. The ‘clockwise’ number rotation starting at twelve and ending at eleven just feels commonplace.

Crash Baggage looks like it’s lived a hard life, even though it’s brand new

Have you seen the style of clothes that has them looking beat up when you buy them off the rack? It’s a lot of money to toss at new old clothes, and they’re only going to diminish more over time. That’s the point though, right? Another item that sees similar amount of abuse from use is our luggage. It gets bumped and banged around either by us, or airline attendants. I suppose buying one that is pre-damaged would make things…

Pulse will have your heart racing

What things can raise your heartbeat? Working out, driving in traffic, or thinking you missed the bus are all definitely viable options. How many of you have ever played a game that really got your pulse roaring? Moreso than that, how many of you have played a game where the point was to play with your heart rate?

Finger Trap Purse – You can’t escape fashion

Do you remember those Chinese finger traps you would be locked in battle with as a kid? Once you mastered the art of not trying to pull your finger off and pushed your fingers together, you could once again be free. The initial panic of getting stuck in one though will forever be in your memory. If you don’t want to lose something, say, a purse, then a finger trap would be the optimal way to make sure you’d never…

A two-edged sword – transgenic tobacco to cure rabies? No GMO’s for me thanks!

A new study from St George’s University’s Hotung Molecular Immunology Unit in London has shown that tobacco plants can be genetically modified to produce rabies antibodies. Scientists hope that this research will deliver a safe, inexpensive way of treating rabies in developing countries.   These transgenic (read genetically modifed or GMO) plants were shown to neutralise the rabies virus. Definitely encouraging news … until you recognize that by “curing” one dreadful disease you’d be purposefully innoculating yourself with genetic material…

Woofer Speaker System is all bark and no bite…literally

Many of us have heard a pun, but how many of you have seen one in action? If you find yourself a particularly punny person, than you might like someone to convey that without going too far over the top. Something along the lines of a subtle hint in the corner.

Zip Tie – you’ll never have to tie a tie again

It’s sad to say, but business professionals are pretty limited in what they can wear. Women have it a little easier with a little wider range of clothing options, but men are usually bogged down with the ole suit and tie. However, that doesn’t mean that you can’t find a little variation here and there.

Bulletproof Whiteboard – this teacher plays no games

You just don’t know when someone is going to go buck wild with a weapon. Some may choose to hide at home and hope that no ill fate will ever befall them, but others want to take that chance. Although, that doesn’t mean you can’t be prepared. We’ve seen tons of bulletproof this and that in the past, but what about out teachers? They keep our kids safe, and should have protection too!

Sphericam captures your entire world

We all seem to have a fascination of recording the world around us. Each moment that passes will never come again, so we constantly take photos, video, and write down current events to make a long-standing log of everything we’ve seen and heard. However, even with this incessant memory-making, we can’t capture everything around us…or can we?

Jolie Body Hair Trimmer – Tame the wookie

Do you have excessive amounts of body hair? Do you wish you didn’t? While most dudes don’t really want to completely shave off their body hair, there’s no harm in keeping it in check. You probably don’t want to use the trimmer that you use for your beard and hair for your armpits and legs. So why not get a separate tool?

USB Pet Rock will always be there for you

There are some things that we buy that have absolutely no function aside from being looked at. Figurines, paintings, and other decorative mediums are meant to simply sit there and look pretty. While we can’t always avoid the allure of these materialistic items, they may as well serve some other purpose rather than being an object in a room.

The Uppercup – hipsters everywhere may rejoice

You’re to the local coffee spot to grab the usual, and on your way out, a text rolls in. For those of us that are fine with typing in portrait mode, this is no biggie. One hand will deal with the phone, and the other can nurse your newly acquired caffeinated beverage. There are speed texters out there though that think anything aside from landscape mode simply won’t do.
