Cobra Pack by Booq – tough, flexible and with more spy pockets than James Bond [Review]

Those of us who spend any time traveling realize that there are few decisions in life as important as deciding what you pack into your carry-on bag. Of course there are life decisions that are more important – who you are going to marry, your major in college, and of course what TYPE of bag you will use for holding all of your carry-on goodies.

Swann Sky Eye – helicopter camera grabs great video if you can keep it aloft long enough [Review]

Remote controlled helicopters have become a popular craze. With the possible exception of Justin Bieber, they may be the most popular things on earth* (*this may be a slight exaggeration…. Justin Bieber really isn’t that popular.)

Kickstarter Review: Botiful – this Skype robot proves that crowdfunding has some real problems

Back in the summer of last year we decided to take a more hands-on interest in Kickstarter projects by investing in a few, just to see exactly what the user experience was like and what potential backers could expect from their investment. Everyone and their dog was writing about the big crowdfunding projects from Kickstarter and Indiegogo, but few were commenting on the risks and real rewards. Nevertheless it was, and remains, an exciting field in every way. We had…

RHA MA350 earphones – Hands on [Review]

British audio company RHA have sent me a pair of their MA350 earphones to try out. They’re a nifty looking earphone and a very shiny change to your typical after-market earbuds. From the machined aluminium exterior of the trumpet-shaped driver, to the braided cord and the gold-plated plug the MA350s really feel like a premium product.

Black Diamond 3 Wireless Speaker by Yantouch [Review]

I am going to start the review on this wireless speaker by going off on a tangent. I have a good friend who had a very famous pick-up line for meeting girls. He would walk up to them and smile and say, “Do you like to dance?” it rarely worked, but it was inoffensive enough that he never had a drink thrown in his face. He was also a disc jockey (aka a “DJ”) at many of the college parties,…

AQ SmartSpeaker – the wireless ‘multi-room’ speaker comes with bags of range and style [Review]

There are wireless speakers and there are wireless speakers. At the cheap end of the range you will find the tinny plastic sounding units with very little to offer most people, while at the top end, the expensive products will tear a large hole in your wallet. But what about the middle of the pack, where decent quality meets a reasonable price?

Touch Speaker – yep, this is definitely the portable speaker we’ve been waiting for… [Review]

Boy are there a lot of portable speakers around. We’ve covered our fair share of them too over the years, so we must take a bit of blame. There’s clearly a demand for amplified speakers to boost the sound of our phones, but up till now they’ve all had one major hassle, you have to connect them in some way. Either by Bluetooth pairing, or by plugging in a cable of some sort. Well no longer, peeps.

InaTrap Electronic Insect Killer – say goodbye to the buzz-buzz sting… [Review]

Some people do not believe in soul-sucking demons. They do not think it is possible that some entity could float up to you and begin to suck the life force from your body. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but these demon creatures exist – we call them *mosquitoes*. Fortunately the folks at InaDays and Acase have created a nice and attractive demon exorcism machine that they have packaged as a giant night light.

Yeah Pad 7 Inch Ultra Cheap Android Tablet – is it worth $50 or should we buy more cat food instead? [Review]

The world is suddenly awash with tablet computers, and not just awash, but swamped by a sea (enough water?) of ultra cheap models. Every day the price reduces and/or more performance and features are added in for the same price. But are these bottom of the pile products actually worth investing in, or should they be treated like angry drunk polar bears, and avoided at all costs? We take a look at one to find out.

TokyoFlash Kisai Maze (review) – Get lost in time

What can be said about a watch? It is rugged, with the ability to stand being underwater and be dropped a time or two? Or could it be fashionable, receiving a plethora of compliments everywhere you go. Any way you look at it, this is a device that tells time. What would you do if the word used to describe your watch was confusing? The TokyoFlash Kisai Maze will tell you the time, but you’ll have to learn of its…

3M Smart Lens Photochromic Safety Glasses – be safe and look cool too? [Review]

If you are like most of us you have two eyes. Sure they may not be as handsome to look at as mine, but you likely have two of them, and they are probably located on your head somewhere above the nose. It’s important to remember that your eyes are pretty tough to replace. Sure you could buy these things, but while they may look cool, they could cause difficulty with your depth perception.

Gomadic SunVolt Solar Charger – become a sun loving power ranger [Review]

There are times in your life when you need a little (or a lot) of power. That’s OK if you are near a power outlet, but often you can be off the grid, perhaps on a hiking trail, a beach, being chased by the CIA, or possibly Mars. No matter where, it’s possible you’re going to have to make a call, or watch a video, and you’ll need power.

Turtle Shell Wireless Outdoor Boom Box – not fast, not snappy but definitely available for parties [Review]

What is there not to like about the turtle? According to Wikipedia (which is always correct) turtles are “reptiles of the order Chelonii or Testudines characterised by a special bony or cartilaginous shell developed from their ribs that acts as a shield.” Also, according to legend, a select group of the specie has formed an elite four turtle, martial arts trained, vigilante group that live in the sewers of New York. But I digress.
