Low light, for example, usually needs a very steady hand, or if possible a tripod to keep the camera absolutely still. And that’s where this new product comes into play.

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again…whatever has happened to Sony? Talk about a turnaround. The company is now on some kind of roller coaster of cool product launches, each one seeming to be more innovative than the last. Has it hired Tony Stark or something? Anyway the latest launch is the Xperia Z1, a veritable monster of a smartphone in every way.

Plantronics RIG Gaming Headset [Best of PAX: Review]

The Plantronics RIG is a gaming headset like no other I’ve seen, and at a relatively modest price point to boot. I got to go hands on (or “ears on”) wth the RIG at PAX, and I it was very impressive indeed. The sound quality rivaled the $250 Turtle Beach Z Seven in my opinion, and that’s a professional gaming headset in every way.

Regular readers will know that we’ve been tracking Chinese brand phones for a few years, and what we’ve seen in the past few months is a big shift in how they’re made and marketed, which is pitching them head to head with the premium handsets from major brands like Sony, Samsung and HTC. Galaxy S4 vs HTC One: 7 Things iPhone Users Should Know Before Switching To An Android Super Phone [Video Review]

The Android avalanche continues to gather pace, sweeping all before it. At last estimates 79% of all smartphones shipping in the second quarter of this year were Android models (coincidentally, 79% of all mobile malware in 2012 was also targeted to the Android platform, but that’s a whole new story) so there’s no question that the open source platform has captured the world’s imagination. If not wallets. Of course almost all of this is due to the astonishing surge from…

iStage Mini – an ideal portable Bluetooth handsfree speaker set for cycling and running [Review]

Cycling is great fun and excellent exercise too, but one of the the problems is it can be difficult to grab your phone calls while traveling, especially if you have to keep your concentration on the road. It’s also not that safe to listen to music or phone calls with earbuds or headphones while biking (or even running) especially in areas where there’s lots of traffic. Which means we usually have to make a choice between entertainment, safety or boredom.

SwannSmart Network Camera – super easy installation makes this camera a whole different story [Review]

We have looked at a fair number of wireless security cameras over the years, and while they all promise much, they have all to date suffered from one major flaw…installation is a pig. Universal Hot Swap Charger – this $3 accessory might just transform the way you use your smartphone [Review]

I’ve got a neat little setup going with my Sony NEX camera which involves using two batteries, one of which is in the camera and the other which is fully charged at all times as a spare. That way, when one battery runs out, I just pop it into the handy charger by my desk, put the fully charged 2nd unit into the camera and I’m ready to go again instantly. Hardly rocket science. But I got to wondering whether…
