Ecoduna – revolutionary new micro algae technology turns waste into nutritious super food [Special Report]

According to the United Nations, malnutrition is the largest single contributor to disease in the world. Even those of us who live in the 21st century modern developed world, can suffer from ‘lifestyle malnutrition’; through a lack of vital nutrients, especially if we eat badly, or rely too much on fast food and processed produce. But now there may be an answer on the way, thanks to some ingenious technology from a small Austrian company.

Zidoo X1 – budget Android TV box delivers decent performance [Review]

The world’s not short of Android TV boxes, that’s for sure, but for the most part they follow a pretty standard pattern. They’re grey/black rectangular boxes, with standard Android user interfaces and that’s that. The Zidoo products however try to be a little different. They tend to try and jazz up the interface software so you get an easier time navigating the system. This new Zidoo X1 budget box is another in this genre.

Dome DVR Car Camera – superb budget car cam adds intelligent driver assist tools too [Review]

Car DVR cameras are definitely not a new thing. They’re very popular in countries with dodgy drivers – ahem … Russia …cough – and we’ve featured them in review before. But what is getting interesting are the advanced features they’re starting to add to these cameras, to give them more driver value in more ways than just video and GPS. We recently got our hands on a new model, the Dome GS98C Car DVR Camera, and came away very impressed.

Samurai Sword Umbrella – will protect you from enemies if they are raindrops [Review]

The Samurai Sword Handle Umbrella is a neat combination of cool and geeky. We were able to get our hands on one to give you the lowdown on this Japanese inspired umbrella. Short version is that it probably won’t do more than bruise your enemies but it will keep you dry.

2015 Audi A3 Sportback eTron – hybrid motoring done with style and effect [Review]

The recent furore over the Volkswagen group diesel fraud hasn’t removed the fact that the German group has been doing some solid work on hybrid and low MPG technology in general, as we’ve seen from our reviews of recent Golf products. The cars we’ve looked at, including the all electric and hybrid Golfs, provide practical efficient motoring at a reasonable price, and so it is with this new hybrid from Audi.

Everyone wants to get in on the action camera craze, you can’t turn a corner without some company or other releasing a new GoPro clone. VW Golf GTE Hybrid – part oil, part electric family machine [Review]

The march of the hybrid car continues as more and more manufacturers stake their eco claim by introducing vehicles powered by part fossil fuel and part electricity. The new VW Golf GTE is one such car, and it combines the typical practicality of a conventional Golf family car with the exotic performance and frugality of a hybrid. The result is rather pleasing. We tested one out for a period to see what it was like to live with.

2015 VW Passat GTE – first drive of the ultimate 149 mpg company fleet car [Review]

If anyone needs proof that the world is slowly changing, look no further than the major car manufacturers. These lumbering dinosaurs are being forced, kicking and screaming, into the eco driven future to the extent that they’re even converting their major sellers into green machines. The latest example is this Volkswagen Passat GTE, a plugin hybrid (PHEV) which boasts ‘official’ consumption figures of 149 mpg and 31 miles of all electric range. And at a price which is very nearly…

Lenovo Yoga Tablet 2 Pro – 13.3 inch screen and an integrated projector, a very unusual tablet indeed [Review]

There are tablet computers, and then there are ‘tablet’ computers. Most of the genre, except for the iPad masters, offer a lot of me-too tech, or simply a lower price to try and win customers. But occasionally there’s a tablet which really tries to be different, and so it is with this new tablet computer from the Lenovo stable. Big, brassy and bold. And that’s just the box.

Samsung Galaxy Tab A – this sleek new tablet computer offers family friendly computing on the go [Review]

Tablet computers seem to be enjoying a little bit of a surge in popularity again, maybe because they’re coming down in price, and are offering some nice features along the way. It also helps that more ‘generic’ software is now available for the most popular platforms like Android, which makes them even more useful. We recently checked out one of the latest tablets to come out of the Samsung stable, and found it to be a very solid workhorse for…
