Dean Kamen’s Slingshot water purifier and Stirling generator tech – low cost water and power for the developing world

Dean Kamen has unveiled the latest iteration of his power and water package for the third world. The two components are a water purifier called Slingshot that uses a fraction of the power of alternatives and a Stirling engine based power generator that works on cow dung. Crayon Physics. Petri Purho’s innovative game prototype is so much fun that it’s…well…beyond. There’s a full-on commercial version called Crayon Physics Deluxe coming. Sun Times is a very cool freeware program which provides more information than you’re ever going to need on sunrise/sunset times, climate averages and global flight schedules and routes. The data is constantly updated and you can run cool time based animations to view astronomical movements and temperature changes for just about every place on earth. Picture Placer. What an absolute gem of a product. Hook this super simple gizmo onto the picture wire on your frame, push to mark the spot on the wall, bang the nail in and bingo, a perfect position every time.
