Parrot Bebop Drone Camera – incredibly easy to fly, and amazing video quality, what’s not to like? [Review]

Quadcopter cameras are awesome fun, don’t let anyone tell you differently. They’re fun to fly, great for exploring new spaces and it’s fun to edit the video when you get back home. But the big problem they’ve had up to now is the fact that they’re really quite difficult to fly properly. Even the easiest, GPS controlled ones are tricky, which puts a lot of people off. But now a new generation of quadcopter cameras are coming on to the…

Game of Thrones Sigil Tree Ornaments – because winter is coming err… already here

It’s that time of the year again when you have to decorate a tree inside your house to make Santa happy enough to leave gifts for you. Don’t you think that Mr.Santa has had enough of shiny balls? Wouldn’t he like to see something else? Something he binge watches the whole year when he’s not doing anything else? Like Game of Thrones.

New York’s underground Lowline park creates solar innovation

Turning a long-abandoned trolley terminal into an underground park is a daunting task. But this dream is on its way to becoming a reality. The Lowline – inspired by the success of New York’s elevated High Line – was first unveiled as the Delancey Underground Project in 2011. The renamed project has been steadily attracting funds and supporters. As proof-of-concept, a full-scale model was built and proudly displayed. And $155,000 US has already raised to test the innovative solar technology…

Yotaphone 2 – wow, this amazing new phone makes other phones look so outdated [Review]

When the Yotaphone people introduced the first Yotaphone back at the beginning of this year the general view was ‘nice idea, shame about the implementation’. Boy how much can change in 9 months. The new Yotaphone 2 , released today is a real stunner, and it’s probably going to change the way we look at and use smartphones for ever.

Quantum Of The Seas – we take a trip on the mind blowing new $1 billion mega ship, probably the best cruise liner ever built [Review]

Last week we were given an unprecedented opportunity to travel out with the incredible new Quantum Of The Seas cruise liner as part of its pre-inaugural shake-down cruise from Southampton port. For the uninitiated, the Quantum is the most technology packed cruise ship ever to sail the seven seas – billed as the world’s first ‘Smart Ship‘ – and comes with a suitably impressive price tag of near on a billion dollars. Give or take.

USB Raptor – turn any USB flash drive into a secure computer lock key for your laptop or desktop PC [Freeware]

Carrying around a fancy laptop is all well and good, but hands up any of you who are a little bit paranoid about leaving your portable in a taxi, or on a train or at a party after work? Yeah, it happens, and when it does, it’s a nasty pit of the stomach thing. But what if you could lock the contents of your machine against unauthorized access, using nothing more than any old USB drive you have in your…

God Only Knows – BBC gathers an 80 piece orchestra and 27 world class musicians to redo the Beach Boys classic for charity

Every so often the BBC reminds us why it remains one of the most beloved television services in the world, still, after all these years. This time the corporation – or Auntie as we like to call her – has pulled out all the stops to deliver a new music single in aid of the BBC Children In Need charity.

Kutiman: Thru You Too – more YouTube magic from the absolute music master

Way back in 2009 we featured a brilliant new YouTube artist who goes by the name of Kutiman. His work involves micro editing YouTube clips of musicians playing various instruments, to produce stunning polished songs. Explaining it doesn’t do it justice, and at the time we called it ‘probably the best thing on the web at the moment‘. Well he’s back with a new album, and the same sentiment applies. It’s amazing.

SeatyLock – the first really cool and workable new security device for bicycles we’ve seen

We hate promoting Kickstarter projects as you know, but this one deserves a bit of attention, because it looks like it could actually solve a big problem for bicycle riders across the world. The SeatyLock is what it says, a bike saddle which converts into a bike lock when you’re parked up. Now there have been a ton of crowdfunding attempts to improve the bike lock, and most of them have been patently rubbish. Not so this one.

Polarr – awesome free photo editing app will make your boring shots look amazing all the time, seriously [Editors Choice]

Every so often we get hit in the face with a corker of a product, and we know within seconds this is something we’re going to use a lot from now on. It’s hard to explain what makes those products so compelling, but if we had to dissect it, we would put it down to a) a clearly great implementation of a core function and b) the ability to get it to do what you want instantly, without having to…

#X – it can wait, the pledge against texting and driving

We love it when clever people come up with clever uses of basic technology, and this is one of those cases. The #X campaign has a very simple, but powerful message – don’t text while you drive. There are more teenage road deaths caused by texting while driving than anything else, so this is a hugely valuable initiative. And it’s simple to do.
