Help…

Er…does anyone know where the volume switch is on these new baby gizmos, or is there a headphone socket? Just joking of course….she’s absolutely delightful. Thanks a million for all the wonderfully kind comments and emails. We’re starting to settle down now, so the Ferret will be back online momentarily. Now, where did I leave that dirty diaper bucket…..?

Arrival

At 15.03 GMT yesterday afternoon (25th May), we welcomed the arrival of a beautiful new baby girl cub reporter at Ferret Towers. Postings will be a little sporadic for the next day or so until parents and baby float back down to Planet Earth. Thank you for your attention and please accept this virtual chocolate cigar and celebratory hug for your understanding and patience. :-)

Broom, broom…

OK, I’m going to be charitable here and assume that the sudden rash of Fewawi badged merchandise has not flooded onto the market just because Michael Shumacher has suddenly upped his fees. But….? Anyway the Oregon Scientific folk seem to be taking it more seriously than most, with a full range of products, including this FSP 301 Maranello clock which not only features a dinky time projection feature, but also a weather and temperature display and the earsplitting sound of…

Conference call.

Sony’s cool looking PCS-11 [Babel] video conferencing system, takes Memory Stick cards to hold contact details and also features a funky looking height adjustable stand as an option. I’m really featuring it because I think it would be cool to have one of these standing next to your cubicle. Around $5000.00.

What’s wrong with the music industry – annotated.

This says it all. Read the original version with all the links to get the real message. ‘We have an industry that is afraid of technology, its senior spokespeople lie to congress, they use Enron-like accounting, they somehow –WHOOPS! — forget to pay their artists, they are convicted price fixers, at the first sign of any kind of an economic rebound their instinct is to raise prices, they have ignored competitive pressures from other forms of entertainment such as DVDs,…

Quintessential MP3.

A fab piece from Zeropaid on how to create the best quality MP3 files possible, using just a small pair of tweezers, some sticky tape and an old discarded toothpaste tube (old Blue Peter joke alert!). Just remember one thing – Dash Dash Alt Dash Preset Space Standard. Oh, and you’ll need a copy of this freeware. ‘My goal here is to teach you how to create the best MP3s possible, and I’ll leave it up to you as to…

Recycle it?

Recycle for Charity. Sounds like a great idea, I wonder if it’s kosher, since there’s no information on the site about who they are and how much the service retains. ‘Recycling for Charity is a national environmental program where you can donate any type of used cell phone, pagers, PDA’s or digital cameras – regardless of condition. Our goal is to keep these items out of the landfills, and to put them back into reuse while benefiting charities and non-profit…

The Pod.

The Pod. I’m starting to get just a little tired of the prefix letters i, e, x and the word pod, but apart from that I think that this little $49.95 gadget bag looks cute. And sorry for being so shallow, but I’m a sucker for cute. ‘That being said, the Pod is all business on the inside. It’s got over 20 (!) smart compartments, and is ideal for your compact camera, MP3 player, or handheld computer, plus all the…
