Suicide Bomb Box – er…

The Suicide Bomb Box. Number 342 on the list of things you probably don’t want to carry on board next time you fly. Let’s face it, you’d probably get a direct flight transfer to Cuba faster than you could say, ‘but it’s only a joke, Officer…’ The rather strange translation also suggests that it also may double up as a hidden compartment case, the perfect place to stash some drugs or ammunition, don’t you think? $65.00 in Yen like. 7 in 1 iPod Dock and FM Transmitter – is that a function too far, Jack?

This 7 in 1 iPod Dock is a holder, charger, FM transmitter, USB charging port and… Aha, perhaps they miscalculated. Maybe it’s really just a 5 in 1. Yep that must be it, their calculators broke mid-way. Shame. $34.99.   Finally there is a combined features of 5-in-1 Car FM Transmitter with USB Port + 6-in-1 Car FM Tramsimtter with Remote Control. It is an iPod Car Holder + iPod Charger + iPod FM Transmitter + MP3 FM Transmitter + USB Charger Port…

Reduced blog posting schedule inevitable says Prince Charles

A report today by The National Royal Vacation Week magazine suggests that bloggers like Prince Charles often take a few days off for a bit of rest and recuperation around the August time frame. “It’s perfectly normal,” exclaimed a tanned and relaxed looking Prince of Wales, “People need to unwind a little. We’re not machines, you know.” None of the Prince’s staff were available for comment by the time of publication.

Migratr – move your photos to and from Flickr and other services

Migratr is a cool little Windows freeware program that lets you bulk move your photos between different online photo services. Currently supports Flickr, SmugMug, Picassa Web, Zooomr and 23HQ and the author is working on Yahoo! photos. Needs .NET. Neat!  Users going between SmugMug and one of the other services should be aware of a slight difference in how the services organize photos. Flickr and 23HQ enable one photo to be a member of multiple photosets. These services can be…

BBC iPlayer quick review – C for effort

I’ve been invited onto the BBC iPlayer beta test, so here’s a quick review piece on the latest Internet media player to hit the market. Click on thumbnails for larger image. First impressions – front end has a snazzy Web 2.0 interface. Lots of shaded icons, big text and images, Ajax timer symbols et al. Internet Explorer sucks. OK, I know I should leave it alone because it’s over done to death, but having no Linux, Mac, Vista or Firefox version is…

Super Sky Cycle – the flying motorbike

The Super Sky Cycle is a flying trike. That is, you can use it on the road as a form of relatively conventional transport, or you can take off and really beat the jams. You’re going to have to build it yourself, and the kit costs $37,195.00, but just think of the neighborhood envy. Top flight speed 100mph, highway speed 55 mph. Good luck!  # The Motorcycle (driving part) parts are intended to be built and licensed as a homebuilt…

Penguin Teaboy – a perfick cuppa evry time…

The Penguin Teaboy is a cute way of making sure you get the hot beverage you want, at the strength you need. Set the timer and it’ll dunk the bag for the exact time required. Great for avoiding those insipid fruit tea concoctions which usually taste more of teabag paper than actual rosehip. Not that we drink rosehip you understand, cos we’re much too macho for that. Nope, we generally snort pure cut espresso grande up each nostril. Honest. $18.98. [Via Stylehive]  …

Weather Forecasting Umbrella – LED lights indicate storms

The Weather Forecasting Umbrella is almost a genius product. The handle has a built in radio receiver which continually picks up Accuweather reports and displays rain warnings as flashing LED lights. The faster the flash, the more chance of rain. The problem? Well if you’re carrying the thing, it’s pretty clear that you’re expecting a cloudburst anyway, eh? Or are you just a paranoid hydrophobe? $139.95.  This is the only umbrella that illuminates the base of its handle to alert…

Handsfree Transporter – the no hands Segway?

So German engineer Ulrich Kahlert has ripped apart a Segway and reconfigured it to make a Handsfree Transporter, which is a hands free scooter thingy built for specific tasks. The applications look interesting too, ranging from a cool Steadicam system or worker transport to a novelty entertainment and advertising tool. Check out some of the videos and see what you think. The one where the guy’s tracking the runners and cyclists through the park woods is cool (under CamTransport).  [Via Metafilter] Tags: segway, handfree+transporter

Fantachrome Paint – mirror like finish out of a spray gun

Fantachrome Coating System Paint comes out of a spray gun all chrome shiny and slippery slick. Just right for bringing the bling back to that shoddy eBay antique. Of course it’s not quite as easy as all that – what is? – but the results certainly speak for themselves. It’s water based, and feels like real chrome plate too because of some kind of ‘chimic’ (chemical?) reaction.    The revolutionary New Fantachrome Coating System produces a mirror-like, chrome finish on almost…
