Honeywell Forecast Projector – time and tornados on your wall or ceiling, Marge

Guys, this Honeywell Forecast Projector thing? Is that THE Honeywell that used to make mainframe computers? You know, the H in BUNCH? If so, wow dude, how have the mighty crashed and burned. I’ll always associate Honeywell with towering faceless headquarter buildings with acres of glass, humming electricals and deeply soulless furnishings. Wow. Sorry where were we? Oh yeah, so this thing beams the time and weather onto your ceiling and walls and comes with…no seriously, is it Honeywell? That’s so…

Zeeion Blower – high tech digital camera sensor cleaner

The Zeeion Blower from Visible Dust (gotta love that name!) is a negative ion charged anti-stickie to sensor type air blower which apparently ensures that your precious digital SLR sensor is cleaned without scratching and nicking. There’s clearly a boatload of tech involved, otherwise why would a rubber bulb thing cost $37.33? Oh sorry, it’s a Silicon-RX thing. My bad. [Thanks Matthew].  Unlike ordinary blowers made from regular rubber that increase static charges, the ZEEION blower allows an opposite charges…

Pipl – scarily effective deep web people search

One of the scary things about social networks like Facebook et al, is just how much information we’re happy to upload for the world to see. So much for long term privacy, eh? Especially with tools like Pipl around, which scan through these networks to gather whatever information they can. Do a search for someone on Pipl and you’ll receive a shed load of information culled from just about every deep web source and social network in the universe. White Pages,…

10 Ways to Speed up Torrent Downloads – grease lightning, oh grease lightning…

10 Ways to Speed Up Torrent Downloads. Despite the trash talk from The Man, BitTorrent is an incredibly useful tool for legitimate large file downloads and many companies and development houses use it all the time for things like Linux distribution. This short guide will help optimise your downloads to get those files down faster.  Torrent users would attest to the fact that half of our time is spent looking for ‘healthy’ torrents and the other half trying to download…

Nokia Creative N82 Photo Awards

Nigel and I are both big fans of the Nokia N82, especially its 5 megapixel camera. Yes, we all know better than to judge a camera by the number megapixels however the N82 does take very good photos (and video) for a mobile phone. So much so, that it has it’s very own Nokia Creative N82 photo awards. Pop in and have a look, there’s some great stuff in there. Is there any other smartphone that can claim to have…

Vibrating Bluetooth Caller ID Bracelet – see who’s calling instantly

This Vibrating Bluetooth Caller ID Bracelet buzzes you when a phone call comes in on your cell phone, and flashes up the Caller ID information. You know, so you can decide whether to talk to the creep. It also saves energy by letting you leave your phone in the pocket. Perhaps the most useful bit though is the fact that it will alert you if your phone and your bracelet move more than 5 metres apart. No more handsets lost in…

3M Performance Plus Duct Tape (Nuclear Grade) – MacGyver would be proud

I’m not so sure which is scarier, the fact that the nuclear industry uses duct tape, or that it uses so much that it has its own special grade. 3M Performance Plus Duct Tape aka Nuclear Grade Duct Tape is high performance tape for those “trickier” situations. Designed to work well outdoors, in harsh sunlight and in wet conditions Nuclear Duct Tape can be removed from most opaque surfaces without leaving any adhesive behind, even after 6 months in 4C…

Room to Room Fan – share the love and the warmth

This room to room fan helps spread warm air from heated rooms into other chilly rooms. Sounds simple really but it’s not, for starters look at that shape! You think it’s easy to design something that spins and fits in a wedge? Well you try it then. $US29.99 and gives the house a nice haunted, cobwebby feel too, don’t you think? If you have a fireplace, wood stove or space heater warming one room, this whisper quiet, compact electric doorway…

Sylvan Sport GO – now you can take everything

The Sylvan Sport GO is one heck of a camper. I just don’t know how they managed to squeeze so many options into such a tiny package. Basically, it’s a cross between a pop-top camper and a tent but it’s much more than both. In travel mode it’s very compact and quite light (about 360kg) and can be towed by pretty much anything. When you get there, unhitch, drop the legs and wind up the roof. The tent part is…
