We’ve all been there. That moment when we realise we need to, like, go. Y’know like really urgently. No, it can’t wait, can you pull over? Please? Stop laughing. Look, I’m serious, please stop. Don’t you dare speed up. Please, please! Pleasepleasepleaseplease. I’ll do anything you want, ANYTHING!!Read More

We’re thinking that this World’s Largest Coffee Cup is wrong on oh so many levels. At a time when nations are facing a massive shortage of raw materials and commodities, why should one person dominate a whole month’s supply in one sitting? And what does it do to your adrenal glands? Or bladder? Anyhoo, if you’re one of those who needs to demonstrate your love for all things addictive, this is probably one of the products you’ll need to store in…
Going abroad on vacation is stressful enough as it is, without the added hassle of remembering to pack all the essential little bits and pieces. It’s even worse when you have to remember all the important things for the family as well, like, well maybe getting passports renewed or organized? The amount of trouble it can be even getting the photos done is enough to put you off travelling for good.
There’s no shortage of stock photo services out there, since it seems that every man Jack with a digital camera can now upload their images to various places on the web. However, finding good quality images can still be a chore if you’re not willing to spend lots of money paying royalty or download fees. It doesn’t help that the big companies like Getty have a habit of buying up the free/cheap image services and then ripping off innocent consumers…
If you are a fan of camping or spending most of your time outdoors in the summer, your sleeping bag and hammock are likely your best friends. However, they both seem to have their downsides. A sleeping bag means laying on the cold hard ground and waking up to stiff joints. On the other hand, a hammock will cradle you to sleep, but leave you freezing as it is usually just thick netting.
When you think of a laser, you likely think of a very focused beam of light. You can use it for playing with the cat, pointing out important points in a lecture, or being obnoxious at a theater. Our eyes immediately recognize what that little dot of light jumping around is, as it is commonplace. There are all sorts of different types of lasers out there, but one you may not know about is sound.
Using an old bathroom scale to get your weight can be a little bit frustrating. One day you weigh 10 pounds less than you were expecting, and the next you weigh ten more. It’s a roller coaster of numbers, and likely emotions as well if you’re struggling to stay at a healthy weight.
We’ve seen some strange products in our time, illuminated toilet seats, bacon bandages, even a reluctant bride cake topper, but we’ve got to hand it to this little doozy. The idea of taking a humble little rodent, adding a strap on glove attachment and selling it to the great masses takes some real courage.
I recently spent time gushing over the new Maxthon 3 desktop web browser in our Firefox alternatives post earlier this month, and the more I use it, the more impressed I get. It’s incredibly fast, uses very little memory (and with zero memory leak) and has a ton of really useful features built in. It also keeps my laptop running around 20 degrees cooler than Firefox, especially with lots of tabs open. Something to do with CPU load I guess.
The technology news may be filled with talk of pirates, copyright and file swapping, but there are other variations on the whole network sharing paradigm which don’t get the same amount of sensationalist press. One example is the continued popularity of IRC, a communications channel which is heavily used by geeks to discuss special topics such as programming, and startup business life.
Minimalists like things to be absolutely straightforward. If it is something frivolous and complex, it can belong to someone else. Tokyoflash seems to be able to be on either side of the scale, or smack dab in the middle with their watches, and this brand new item they have on the market is tipping towards those who like the simple things in life.
Some of us like to keep track of how many steps we take per day. It could be for fun, or trying to make it to a certain number for health reasons. You can just shake the thing to reach your goal number, but where’s the fun in that?
There are some ideas that some like a wonderful thing at the time, and turn out being bad once put into reality. You can merge two things together, but if it wasn’t meant to be, it will be apparent pretty quickly. One such item that doesn’t seem to make too much logical sense is the Waterproof Pool Table.
So you’ve got yourself a nice flat screen HD television and you’re enjoying your high definition sports and movies. But there’s a nagging feeling in your breast. Should you keep up with the times and upgrade your set to a brand new, but expensive, 3D television and take advantage of the new 3D content being beamed to your location right now? Well there is apparently an alternative.
Bullying is a nasty and pervasive part of many children’s lives, and there’s no doubt that it needs to be dealt with in as many ways as possible, ranging from parent education (how to spot the signs) to classroom monitoring to pick up on signs early enough to stop something developing into a fully traumatic event. In this regard we need to applaud any technology that helps to fight the bully at source.
