Recycling is having some problems in the west. What most people don’t realize is that we ship most of our waste to other countries to be processed but unfortunately for us, those countries aren’t taking our trash anymore and we aren’t very good at making sure that our garbage is sorted properly which keeps it from getting recycled. California Hits 33% Renewable – the state makes it’s goal of a third before 2020

Locations around the world are making moves toward more sustainable energy solutions. Slowly but surely, everyone is jumping on this bandwagon which makes sense since the alternative is. . . not good. Although there’s still a whole lot of work to be done, it’s good to celebrate the successes! California has met its goal of being 33% renewable and it did it early.

Where do our recyclables go – after China becomes more strict, we need to question this more

One of our biggest problems is trash and now with China refusing most of our recyclables, this problem is coming home to roost with disastrous consequences. Instead of being recycled, most things that can be are actually ending up in landfills and at incinerators which means, we need to be way more aware of what we are throwing out and how to reduce that.
