Kids Web Menu – free children’s web browser protects innocent eyes

Kidswebmenu

Kids Web Menu. Simple and easy to use children’s web browser offers safe customised surfing for tiny tots. You select which sites they can visit from the list of ‘approved’ sites, and the browser presents a simple one click interface which is child friendly. Pop ads are blocked and there’s no address bar so they can only navigate via the icons.

I’m not 100% in favour of web nanny programmes (the words trust and arbitrary censorship come to mind), but this seems like a good product for very young children who just want to play with Thomas, Bob or any of those celeb characters we can’t seem to escape. Windows only at the moment, although a Mac version is in the works apparently.

Kids Web Menu is a free, easy-to-use Web browser for kids of all ages. * The highly visual, single-click interface enables kids as young as 2 years of age to navigate the Web without even knowing how to read! * A unique camera mode lets kids take pictures while safely exploring the Internet. * As a parent or teacher, you control which sites your children may visit by selecting from our online directory of preapproved sites. * Enjoy instant access to new sites as they are added to the directory, and recommend favorite sites of your own. * Cutomize your child’s experience with fun themes from our continually growing Themes Library. * Change themes with a click of a button…

  • i really like this! my neice is incredibly dangerous on a computer (she just clicks like mad and hammers random keys) so far she has changed netflix ques, sent emails to random friends, and navigated at light speed all over the web. a program that lets parents lock in what sites their kids can visit, and one that does it in a clean kid friendly ui like this gets my vote.

  • Yes, that’s why I thought it might be interesting. It’s the ‘dangerous hands’ that keeps us all awake at night, eh Andy? :-)

  • doesn’t keep me awake, but it certainly keeps my sister and brother-in-law on their toes! :)

  • my 10 yr old has alot of homework, geology etc… is this browser suitable for him, or this for younger children.
