Drive Sentry. Freeware package which offers firewall protection using a slew of security features, including maintaining a local list of trusted programs and a malware blacklist. I haven’t had a chance to try it yet, but the story sounds good from here. I also like the fact that they’ve got a portable version which protects your USB drives from attack if you plug them in to someone else’s machine. Sounds very useful and definitely worth checking out if you’re in the market for some computer protection.
DriveSentry is the next generation Security 2.0 antivirus technology, providing personal data protection for your computer. Unlike traditional antivirus software, DriveSentry uses a unique Tri-Security technology which includes a whitelist of trusted programs, a blacklist of known malware and a database of programs which have been trusted by the DriveSentry Advisor Community. It works by only allowing “good” programs to access your drives including any number of removable drives.
