Cost of Smoking Calculator – hint: it’s probably rather expensive…

Cost of Smoking Calculator. This small freeware program aims to supplement the health negatives of smoking with a simple but effective deterrent based around money. Just enter in your daily habit details and the program will tell you just how much cash you’ve burned up over the course of your life. Scaaary!

Not to be confused with the commercial program from the same vendor called The Cost of Sin Calculator, which examines the financial cost to you of just about every ‘bad’ thing (aka discretionary spending on things like coffee, alcohol, gambling, tobacco, jail and drugs) you could do in your life. Good luck filling that one out.

OUR CHILDREN!! –> You see, due to peer and other pressures, they disregard most antismoking efforts. One reason is they believe they are immune or even immortal smoking related disease. They think –> It can’t happen to me!! On the other hand, if a 13 year old realizes that smoking a pack a cigarettes a day can cost in the range of $30-60,000 over 10 years, the Corvette they dream about can turn into a used Yugo or no car at all. The aspect of “high smoking cost” may enhance antismoking sentiment and curtail our children from lighting up that first cigarette.
