Atmosphere Lite is an awesome little freeware program that lets you enjoy the sounds of nature while you’re working on your computer. The program comes with a set of 10 preset scenarios including rain forests, ocean nights and woodland campfire and if you don’t like those you can create and record your own version using the samples they provide.
I’ve got to say it’s extremely agreeable to sit here blogging to the sound of Woodpeckers, Barn Owls and other assorted natural sounds – it sure beats the heck out of police sirens or a city jack-hammer on concrete. There’s even an alarm clock function in case you drop off to sleep during your late night computer session listening to the ocean. Actually the longer I listen to this soundscape the more I like it. In fact….zzzzzzz
Atmosphere Lite is designed to help mask noise, promote relaxation or just to add some background while you use your PC. You can also use Atmosphere Lite to record your own nature CDs using the sounds you find most pleasing. Atmosphere Lite plays various soundscapes. Each soundscape consists of one or more background sounds which play continually, and random sounds which play intermintantly to add variation to the soundscapes. You can also select slideshows to play with your soundscapes and color schemes to suit your mood.
