Lili webcam and Oscar USB hub – computer peripherals with a heart

Belgian company United Pepper make a couple of cute and “ethical” computer peripherals, the Lili webcam and the Oscar USB hub. United Pepper are attempting to deliver quality technology without sacrificing environmental or ethical principals and supporting local manufacturers in developing countries.

Lili and Oscar were designed in Belgium but are manufactured in Vietnam. They are assembled in a Fairtrade certified factory where the local population can work in safe and hygienic conditions while being paid a fair wage. Fairtrade certification means there is equality between female and male employees, no use of child labour and a little or no middle-men between the manufacturers and the distributor.

The products are also manufactured with environmental concerns in mind Instead of using a petroleum-based polyurethane foam to stuff the products, they use Kapok, a naturally occurring tree fibre which the locals sell. The finished products are then packaged in 100% recycled, and recyclable PET plastic which can be separated from other packaging materials easily.

As for the products, well Lili is a standard 1.3 MPixel, 30 fps, USB webcam with a built-in mic and can focus from 5cm to infinity. Oscar can connect up to 127 devices via his 4 ports and is USB2.0 compliant, but for once, the news is in how the products got here and not what they do. Take a look yourself.

Our Technology use only the most advance qualitative electronic component in the best design structure and smartest intuitive interface. This technology is innovative and is the best choice for smart consumer.By buying direct from manufacturing and helping them to strengthen their organisations and social structure, United Pepper offered consumers the opportunity to buy products which were bought on the basis of a Fairtrade.
