Battery powered faux candles have been around for years, but Smart Candle has taken the idea a couple of steps further. Primarily aimed at businesses that use large numbers of candles every day, Smart Candle make a range of rechargeable candles for decorative use. For businesses the cost of decorative candles start to add up, especially if you burn hundreds of them a year. When you add on damage to things from wax spills and burns, then something like the Smart Candle could be a godsend.
Each Smart Candle has electronics inside to give it a realistic flicker and an LED as a light source so there’s no heat. Each candle has its own power switch and is powered by a NiMH battery which lasts about 12-15 hours from an 8 hour charge. The platinum candle version uses 12× trays to charge the candles and the trays can be clipped together so only one power adapter is needed to charge up to 48 candles. You can also choose from a range of “flame” colours and as a bonus they’re windproof, but alas not waterproof.
Even if you’re not the Hilton or MGM Grand then Smart Candles can still be used to brighten up your home safely. They also make a range of realistic silicone-based candles with a 4× charger which should be ideal if you love candles but want to maintain a kid and pet friendly house.
