Sure, Google has the online mapping business kind of sewn up, but just because everyone uses it, doesn’t mean it’s very pretty. Onionmap is trying something else by creating 3D maps of landmark cities from around the world. Rome, New York, Beijing and Stockholm are some of the cities you can explore from your browser. There is also some limited information provided such as transport info, attractions, hotels and the like. None of the cities are complete yet and only the main touristy areas are shown but it’s definitely a site to keep your eye on.
Onionmap is a website that provides unparallel 3-D interactive Maps of the world’s great cities. Onionmap’s dynamic interactive technology takes the mapping experience to another level, providing a more enjoyable and rich experience.
