The Roberts SolarDab is being billed as the world’s first solar powered digital radio, which sounds a little fanciful from where we’re sitting. Notice the words ‘under good conditions’. What that really means is if you’re sitting in the middle of a Dubai garden on a lovely summer’s day, you’ll get enough juice to power up the sounds without a problem. But if you’re in foggy Berlin in December better hunt out the mains cable. There, fixed it for you guys. £79.99.
solarDAB is the world’s first solar powered DAB radio. This stylish and compact portable radio has a solar panel integrated into the top of the unit which absorbs direct sunlight in order to power the radio. There is a level indicator on the diplay screen that shows the power level generated by the solar panel. Under good conditions, there is sufficient power generated to charge the batteries and power the radio. The built in rechargeable battery pack is charged whenever the solar panel receives direct sunlight.
