Ear Pressure Equalizer – at last an end to the swallowing, sucking and yawning…?

Earpressureequalizer

The Ear Pressure Equalizer gadget sucks air out of the outer ear canal and thereby removes the annoying blocked ear feeling you get in descending aircraft as the cabin pressure goes haywire. It’s been developed by a real live Australian Prof of Tinnitus research so it should work, shouldn’t it? £38.95.

You experience it during flight landings – increased cabin pressure presses the eardrum inwards and the ears become “blocked” – an irritating and painful sensation…The Ear Pressure Equalizer sucks air from the outer ear canal creating a slight vacuum which gently pushes the eardrum back into its original position. Using the equalizer is child’s play. Simply close the ear canal with the equalizer, briefly press the yellow membrane – done. No matter how strongly you press, the built-in safety vent will prevent the build-up of too much pressure.

While I’ve luckily not had this problem, I know many who have and are in pain for hours after a flight. If this works, it could be well worth it.

Well yeah, this.. Or you know.. You could just buy a 1 dollar pack of gum.

I will have to buy one of these. I get a terrible pain in my head whenever the plane descends, and it can last for hours. The gum trick doesn’t work for me, nor does holding my nose and mouth closed while pressurizing my head. The latter technique was even recommended by a relative in the Air Force that rode in the bays of unpressurized cargo airplanes. The pain can be worse than migraines.

It’s an interesting product, and if it does work as advertised it would be good for kids too I guess. It would be useful to have a user review from somewhere…
