See Spot run…

Mmm…Microsoft is apparently prepping the 3rd party manufacture of a whole raft of smart watches and other devices which will be able to accept FM radio data transmissions. The idea is that things like horoscopes, traffic reports, sports scores and the like can be beamed to these Smart Personal Objects Technology (aka SPOT) devices on demand. A sort of teletext for the wrist.

Of course, as some reports point out, these are things that can be sent to mobile phones right now anyway, so where’s the beef?

Apparently though, the smaller keychain devices could be a great way to beat the queues. Instead of hanging around waiting for a table at a restaurant or a ride at a fun park, patrons could be sent off with one of these devices and alerted later when their turn was up. Now that sounds a winner. [via metafilter]
