KRK Ergo Room Correction System – optimize the acoustics in your bedroom studio

Krkergo

The KRK Ergo is a mix optimisation device which is used to calibrate the acoustics of your studio – home or professional – and ensure as good a speaker output as possible. It’s a great example of a product which has come about because of the changing dynamics of a music industry which no longer uses those huge multi-million dollar studio complexes so loved by the stars of yesteryear. Nowadays a lot of music comes out of smaller digital studios built into conventional, albeit sound proofed, buildings.

Anyway you plug the device up to your speakers, computer and a special microphone, then ‘shoot the room’ to get a 3D acoustic picture, and from that point on the box controls all the speaker output (using 1024 EQ points) to ensure you hear the best mix for the room’s configuration. This video shows how it works. Neat tech and perfect for the GarageBand generation. $599.00.

A great mix starts with a great recording room. But when it comes to achieving the most accurate mix, your room may have the upper hand. Like any room, your studio’s acoustics include offending frequencies and room reflections, and none of these are helping your mix. Getting a handle on these problems has traditionally meant the installation of soft foam or fabrics, and that’s a great start. But now you can get even closer to a perfect room, and a perfect mix, because the future of studio sound is here, and it’s called ERGO.
