SoundOff – turn your Windows system sounds off with a mouse click

SoundOff. There’s nothing more annoying than enjoying an intense movie moment on your super expensive media PC when all of a sudden an email alert or other Windows system sound ruins the atmosphere. This small freeware tool gives you the power to switch off all Windows system sounds at will, and enjoy the movie as it should be enjoyed, with only the sound of popcorn and your pitiful sobbing breaking the silence. One of those tiny tiny utilities that are worth their weight in gold, my friends.

The program lets you quickly and easily turn off Windows sounds with the right-click of a mouse button. This is especially handy when you want to listen to music without hearing all the clinks and clunks of Windows actions. To currently do this, you have to go to the control panel, select the Sounds and Multimedia applet, select the Sounds tab, then change to No Sounds.

Funnily enough, the very first thing I do *every* time I re-install windows on a machine, is switch system sounds to none! Same as my Mac at work. Handy tool though.

  • Better yet. Turn off Windows forever. Just get a Mac and come into the light.

oh how ignorance is bliss! :)

Pity I can't find an app to kill all sound after 11pm! Keep forgetting to turn off my amp and ppl messaging me during the night wakes me!

    any Ideas ?
