SKIGYM – skiing simulator brings the mountains to your living room

Skigym1

The preposterous looking SKIGYM is definitely the most expensive USB accessory ever. Developed ‘in cooperation with skiing instructors, sports scientists and sports therapists’ the unit plugs into your computer and TV or wall projector and lets you live out your various ski run fantasies safe in the comfort of your own chalet. It comes with the Alpine Ski Racing 2007 game and has varying levels of difficulty, ranging from milksop beginner to ubermensch obercarpet. Or something. Don’t forget to open the fridge door and stick a fan in front of your face for that truly realistic experience, eh?  £1,270.00.

No comparison to simple PC and console games: The patented SKIGYM is a technically sophisticated training instrument, made in Germany and developed in cooperation with skiing instructors, sports scientists and sports therapists. Like in real skiing, you’ll navigate by applying and releasing pressure and by turning and inclining so you can move from parallel tracks to a short jump to a downhill posture. Just connect the USB cable to a PC or laptop, climb on, start the software “Alpine Ski Racing 2007” (included), and get going. A microchip will convey your movements simultaneously to the screen.

  • I must say, that looks a bit dangerous! I bet it's a lot of fun, though.

  • Looks like the Wii might have some competition here…maybe Nintendo will by them out! ;D
