This would be a "cheap" way to change your laptop spining hard drive into a solid state one. Though, I'm not sure how far you'd get with 1 gb flash card, how slow it's write/read is, or the number of write cycles it could go through…
But, vibration and temp issues would be less of a concern in some applications!
I doubt it is useful or not. Install a external SATA just for 1G or 4G is a crazy idea. Today a 320G SATA HDD only $60. Buy three Compact Flash to SATA Adapters can cost me a 320G SATA HDD and more! Too crazy idea.
