Compact Flash to SATA Adapter – turn your CF card into an external or internal hard disk

Compactflashtosataadapater

This Compact Flash to SATA Adapter gives you the power to add a flash memory card as a hard drive to your PC. Why would you want to do that? Well maybe you’re just contrary and fancy a change? Maybe you’re building a teeny tiny PC which doesn’t have the space to fit in a hulking big 1.8 inch drive. Or maybe you just like tinkering. Anyhoo, you can boot the machine with it, and no drivers are required, so it’s just plug and play. $24.99.

Substitute for 1.8″ HDD/SSD # Enable Compact Flash (CFI/II) or Micro Drive to be used like ordinary 1.8″ SATA hard drive # SATA Interface # Supports connection to Port Multiplier or Hardware Port Multiplier # Mounts directly onto notebook 1.8″ SATA connector # CF Card can be the primary bootable device containing the OS and applications # Transparent to the operating system and does not require any drivers

  • Whoa! I'm with you there Nige. What the heck do you do with it? Now eSATA I could understand, fast external storage.

  • This would be a "cheap" way to change your laptop spining hard drive into a solid state one. Though, I'm not sure how far you'd get with 1 gb flash card, how slow it's write/read is, or the number of write cycles it could go through…
But, vibration and temp issues would be less of a concern in some applications!

  • I doubt it is useful or not. Install a external SATA just for 1G or 4G is a crazy idea. Today a 320G SATA HDD only $60. Buy three Compact Flash to SATA Adapters can cost me a 320G SATA HDD and more! Too crazy idea.
