Double Twist – new freeware manages your media on computer and device

Doubletwist

Double Twist, the media manager which organises and converts your multimedia for consumption on your computer and mobile gadgets, now has a Windows version as well as Mac. The interface is simple and clean, and the functionality is generally well implemented. Just plug your phone or media player into the computer and Double Twist will automatically recognise it and add the device to the sidebar, from where you can drag and drop images, music or videos. The program will convert on the fly, so it’s a no hassle transfer.

The main annoyance is the assumption that you either use iTunes or Windows Media player as a music library on the computer. This means there’s no way to tell the program where to find your music if, like me, you just leave it hanging around in various folders. There’s also no way to select more than one folder as a store for videos and photos, which again makes the program rather less than useful.

On the plus side the prog works with most of the MP3 players, mobile phones, and digital cameras on the market and even the PSP. It also incorporates a media player and will let you send and share stuff via email. It’s just a shame about the restricted file and folder functionality.

Browse through your media and play anything. doubleTwist supports all major audio and video formats. doubleTwist works with your phone, MP3 player, PSP, camera, and much more! Take your music, videos and other media wherever you go. Share in seconds. Send photos, home videos and other large media files to friends and family.
