UbiSurfer – GPRS enabled netbook provides budget level go anywhere Internet

Ubisurfer

The new UbiSurfer is a 7 inch screen netbook computer with a ho-hum spec, Linux operating system, WiFi and 1GB of flash memory storage. The kicker is it also comes with an embedded dual band SIM card which supplies a totally useful 12 month’s worth of GPRS Internet connection included in the purchase price. Go anywhere Internet eh? Sounds good.

Now anyone who’s every tried to do anything reasonable on a GPRS connection will tell you just how much it sucks, but I guess for simple email collection and and limited surfing it’ll be OK. But then again, you can do that with a mobile phone, right? Anyhoo, you get 1800 mins a month of surfing included in your purchase price for the first 12 months, and it also uses WiFi so you can surf at majestically normal speeds when you’re at home. £159.00.

The UbiSurfer is the latest portable Net Book from the people who brought you the Pocket Surfer. This gadget truly is the next great leap in technology – all the functionality of a laptop with the “go anywhere” internet connection that made its predecessor so popular. The integrated sim-card provides you with a free GPRS internet connection, but if you’re close to a wireless network all you need to do is ride the airwaves and explore the internet at your leisure in True Colour on its 7 inch TFT LCD screen.
