USB Cassette MP3 Player – cassettes still going strong

Image

Years ago I saved hard and bought a Sony Discman especially designed for the car. It came with a special rubber-sprung mounting plate that the player clipped into to minimise vibrations and skipping, it had a cigarette lighter power adapter and best of all a cassette-shaped adapter that went into the car stereo tape slot and played the CD through the tape heads. For 1994 it was the bees knees and I’m chuffed to see that Brando has found the modern day equivalent.

This USB Cassette MP3 Player uses that same technology to play MP3s through the tape heads in a car stereo. It has an SD/MMC slot to hold your music and a built in Li-Ion battery to power the MP3 player. It recharges via USB or you can plug it into the cigarette lighter to recharge. If you’re not in the car, the whole thing doubles as an ordinary portable MP3 player, with built-in controls, ear phone socket, volume and equaliser. US$22 from Brando.

Give your car audio MP3 support without buying a new system. Use it as a standalone MP3 player or push it into your car stereo to play all your favorite MP3 tunes, right from your SD card. It even doubles up as a card reader when connected to your PC!
