How interesting to see the UK introduce a new free non-emergency healthcare phone number for its citizens. The number – 111 – will give the public free access to information and advice on health issues as well as guidance on relevant medical services in the local area. Nice.
Trained call-handlers will respond to requests for health or service information and assess the medical needs of callers to identify which NHS services are best placed to meet those needs and ensure that patients get to the right place first time…The underlying policy behind the service has been determined by the DH [department of health]
