MP3val – freeware finds and fixes file corruption in your MP3 music collection

Mp3val

One of the hassles of maintaining a large music collection is keeping tabs on which of your precious tracks has gone corrupt guerilla on you, which is why the small free MP3val utility is so neat. Just fire it up every so often and run a quick check through of your music tracks and it will quickly locate and point out any which need attention or replacing. It will even fix the ones it can, which is v cool.

MP3val is a small, high-speed, free software tool for checking MPEG audio files’ integrity. It can be useful for finding corrupted files (e.g. incompletely downloaded, truncated, containing garbage). MP3val is also able to fix most of the problems. Being a multiplatform application, MP3val can be runned both under Windows and under Linux (or BSD)

  • not user friendly, unless the user is a complete teckie. wtf. the average person downloading this is doing it because they have a problem they can't fix. this doesn't tell you WHICH version of it you should download, nor how to use it when downloaded. i tried all of them, they came as zip files, and after using winzip to open, no clue what to do. sorry, not everybody dedicates their lives to speaking nerd. fucking fail.
