You lot weren’t too impressed by the TentPak last week, and I’m not real impressed with this leaving the letter c out of words, so we’ll call it a draw and move onto this slightly awesome JakPak. It’s an all-weather jacket that transforms into a
claustrophobic very cozy one person tent complete with insect netting and a sleeping bag.
Sure, you’ll look like the man-from-the-moon but assuming you’re not lying on rocks or ice you may actually get a bit of sleep and you may even be dry. There’s room inside the Jakpak sleeping bag to use a mummy sleeping bag for extra warmth. The tent and sleeping bag can be detached and the sleeping bag even doubles as a pack cover. More photos here. The only bit I can’t figure out is where the tent poles that go around the head are stored. US$249.99, comes in green or black but it’s not available until the second quarter of 2010.

The patent pending JakPak design incorporates a waterproof sleeping bag, minimally-structured tent and insect netting into a comfortable jacket, creating an instant dry habitat that is ideal for outdoor sports enthusiasts, people living in areas prone to natural disaster, sports fans who will not be held back by a little rain, and anyone else in need of shelter.
