Tired of your old piano? Consider this. The Arts Council of Williamson County (Tennessee, USA) is sponsoring a fundraiser – their Encore! Reclaim the Sound event in October – which will auction off amazing art pieces made from unusable piano parts.

Collaborating with the Steinway Piano Gallery of Nashville (TN), piano parts are being donated by Samick Music Corp. and includes things like piano keys, foot pedals and tuning pins to key rails, benches and grand piano lids. It’s nice to know these wonderful instruments will get a new life, stay out of landfills, and be appreciated for years to come.

The finished art pieces in “Encore! Reclaim the Sound” will be auctioned off at an event in Nashville in October. The proceeds raised will go to ACWC’s arts education programs and the Steinway Society of Nashville. The artwork will be also juried by the Encore! committee, which will determine if the artwork will go in the silent or live auction. Twenty percent of the sale price will go to the contributing artist.
