Suicide Machine to go open source – victory for personal data privacy over Facebook bullying

Suicidemachine

Facebook may have managed to shut down the Suicide Machine with an army of nasty lawyers, but the good news is the fact that it’s going open source. The head of the service – which gives you an automated way to delete yourself from social networks – Gordan Savicic is promising to release a downloadable version of the code under open source, so anyone can use it to delete their Facebook or other profile.

A bit of a victory for the common man, eh? Not sure why Facebook should think they have the right to prevent people from deleting their accounts…weird really.

Tired of your Social Network? Liberate your newbie friends with a Web2.0 suicide! This machine lets you delete all your energy sucking social-networking profiles, kill your fake virtual friends, and completely do away with your Web2.0 alterego. The machine is just a metaphor for the website which moddr_ is hosting; the belly of the beast where the web2.0 suicide scripts are maintained. Our service currently runs with Facebook, Myspace, Twitter and LinkedIn! Commit NOW!
