Kids of all ages should appreciate this kit to create a solar powered Lunar Car Solar Robot Kit. Made with pre-cut balsa wood pieces, you have the materials to put together a simple gearbox using a solar panel, battery, motor and a slide switch that toggles between the battery and solar power.
You’ll need some basic tools – a screwdriver, some long nose pliers, a sharp knife, sandpaper and a AA battery – to assemble the more than 100 parts of this kit. It’s better suited for kids over 3 years old, with plenty of adult supervision to figure out the illustrated instructions that come with it. But the end result is a cool looking Lunar car that will run well on flat surfaces. £24.50
