Auto Smiley is a freeware Mac program which automatically generates smiles –  – from a webcam image of your face as you work. It’s more a piece of fun than a serious program offering, but it’s certainly out there at the cool end of interesting.

The idea is your webcam picks up the smile on your face and instantly sends a smiley in text form to whichever window is live on your screen at that moment. Useful for emails maybe, unless you’re naturally jolly and emailing a recently bereaved relative. Watch the video!

 Auto Smiley is a computer vision application that runs in the background while you work. The software analyzes your face while you are working and if it detects a smile it sends the the ascii smiley face letters “: )” as keyboard presses to the front most application.
