Who would have thought that a washing machine could qualify as home decor? The SHINE washing machine by Electrolux Design Lab may be what urban dwellers have been looking for – a nice blend of style and function.
Premiered at this year’s Milan Eurocucina, this cool looking washer may come in 2 models – freestanding, to fit easily under a bathroom sink or cabinet, or wall-mounted version, which would blend into bathroom wall cabinets. With a high gloss finish reminiscent of porcelain and ceramic, lights around the SHINE’s door act as ambient light and as the washer’s interface. The light ring around the door indicates both the cycle and washing phase. Once the wash starts, the ring lights up, going clockwise, reaching the end at the same time the wash does.
The SHINE lets you choose which program you need based on type of garment you want to wash. It may only let you do small loads but that means using less than a gallon of water per load.
No word yet when it will hit stores but with UN predictions of large percentages of the population migrating to cities, this will be a must-have!
