Pedicab – biker punk transport for the post petroleum age?

Pedicab2

The Pedicab is a person powered, 2 passenger transport which uses a shed load of gears and some super lightweight tech to allow for the dragging of bodies along a roadway without rupturing the driver…ah…pedaller.

We’re guessing that only would-be eco taxi owners and very rich people with large estates are going to be interested in dropping the $4800.00 on the craft. But what do we know?

The cab’s seat and back are padded vinyl upholstery, and an adjustable canvas canopy shields riders from the sun. Requiring no more effort to pedal than a standard multi-speed bicycle, it uses a 21-gear Shimano mountain bike drive differential system that employs a lower gear ratio than normal, allowing drivers to haul up to 600 lbs. Double-walled, extra-wide mountain bike aluminum rims withstand rough terrain while its spring shocks provide a smooth ride.
