RIOT (Radical Image Optimization Tool) is an awesome freeware program designed to let you magically reduce your photo file size while retaining the quality of the original. Everything about this program reeks of quality, from the fact that it automatically and instantly lets you work with a smaller version of the image without messing with the original, to the ability to tweak image settings such as contrast, rotation and metadata.

By far the best part of the software is the ability to preview changes in instant real time, so you can see the trade-off between quality and file size simply by moving the slider. Brilliant. What’s more you can instantly check between JPEG, PNG and GIF to see which will compress best. And it’s fast. A must have utility if you’re into photography. Available in standalone and plug-in versions. Beautiful.

 Radical Image Optimization Tool (RIOT for short) is a free image optimizer that will let you to visually adjust compression parameters while keeping minimum filesize. It uses with a side by side (dual view) or single view interface to compare the original with the optimized image in real time and instantly see the resulting file size. It is lightweight, fast and simple to use, yet powerful for advanced users. You will be able to control compression, number of colors, metadata settings and much more, and select image format (JPG, GIF or PNG) for your output file.
