Escape from reality.

The Kaleidescope DVD Server is a movie-buff’s dream product – at a price. The idea is that you copy your extensive DVD movie collection onto the system’s storage cartridges – along with the copy protection – and access everything from the server rather than using a conventional DVD player. $27,000 buys you a system that will hold 160 movies.

‘A Kaleidescape System comprises rack-mountable hardware components, proprietary operating system software, and Kaleidescapes Movie Guide Service. A basic Kaleidescape System has one Server (with five disk cartridges for storing up to 160 movies), one Movie Player, and one DVD Reader. Additional cartridges can be added to the Server, up to a total of 12, which is sufficient to store 440 movies.’
