Virtual Walkie Talkie – turn your Android phone into a CB radio

Androidwalkietalkie

Virtual Walkie Talkie is a free Android program which when installed on your phone turns it into the equivalent of a CB radio. The software works over WiFi and features multiple channels and a persistent state, which means it stays on in the background until you deliberately exit the program.

I tried it a few days ago and it is strangely just like a Citizen’s Band rig. All that was missing was the ‘breaker, breaker, good buddy’ stuff. The other disconcerting bit was the fact that there were Koreans, Germans and other nationalities all chatting away…weird. A fun bit of software though, and if you want a private channel chat option, you can hand over some cash for the upgraded version, or set up your own server on your handset.
