TicTacDo – a collaborative to-do checklist service on steroids

TicTacDo is an interesting new service which aims to beef up the humble To-Do list and make it much more collaborative and easy to use. For starters you just enter in the project you want, and the system will try and find a ready made to-do checklist to use as a template. It’s a neat idea and could save a lot of time.

The list of ready made lists ranges from the banal such as teaching your kid how to wash dishes, to serious topics like setting up credit card processing for your business. There are 20,000 of them, which should be enough for most people. Once you’ve selected a filled out template, you can customise it as you need, and start adding collaborators and ticking off the task boxes.

The user interface is nice and clean, with engaging and appealing graphics dotted around to encourage you to use the service. I also like the fact that the whole thing is licensed under a Creative Commons license, so there’s no danger of proprietary ownership of your data. You listening Facebook?

All in all, a nice service and one which should do well. It’s Web 2.0 to the core, with all the social networking integration you could possibly ask for and more. The developers have also just released a business version, which I guess is aimed at paying the rent for the free service.

A TicTacDo is a list of easy-to-follow actionable steps that helps you do whatever you want to do, sharing it with friends and colleagues. TicTacDo’s are the essence of the Happiness of Doing – quickly, simply, and painlessly…Be it for every-day activities, for fun or in the workplace, TicTacDo’s take care of the planning, enabling you to take action, engage peers instantly, set due dates, outsource to-do’s, share comments, and much more.
