Catalencoder is a cool freeware program which lets you convert your VOB video files (e.g. taken from DVD movies) to the XviD format. The advantage of this is first, a 10x smaller file size and secondly, the resulting .avi file will be playable in most media players and phones.
It’s a cinch to use, just add the file you wish to convert, choose your save folder and hit the Convert button. Around 50 mins later, depending on the size of the film, you’ll have a result. Excellent!
